Montpellier's museums
 Musée Fabre
Ceated by the painter François Xavier Fabre in 1825, this is one of the major french museums. It houses Flemish,dutch, italian, spanish and french collections. Painters from the great European schools of the XVIth. to the XVIIIth. centuries (Zurbaran, Reynolds, Tenier, Véronèse... ) and French schools ( Greuze, Ingres, Delacroix, Courbet, Bazille...), Ceramics and sculptures, contemporary paintings.

Opening times : Tuesday to Friday from 9.30 a.m to 5.30 p.m.
                              Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m to 5 p.m.

Admission charge ( except first sunday of each month ). Group visit by reservation.

 Musée languedocien
Housed in a former mansion. It contains very rich collection from the prehistoric,protohistoric, antic (Gallo roman, Greek, etruscan, egyptian....), medieval (Romanesque sculptures) and classical (pottery) periods.

From monday to saturday, 2 p.m. (3p.m.to 6 p.m. from july to september) , exept sundays and holidays. Group visitsby reservation.
 

 Musée Atger
It consists of a very rich collection of drawings from Flemish, Italian, Dutch, German and French schools, patiently put together by the enlightened art lover Xavier Atger who bequeated it to the Faculty of Medecine in the last century.
The library of this faculty possesses a large number of precious manuscripts from the VIII th. to the XIX th centuries. Remarkable collection of collection of drawings by regional and Flemish mastres, from the renaissance to the XIX th century.

 Musée du vieux Montpellier
Items of fournituresand memorabilia of the history of montpellier ( middle ages, XVIII th centuries, French Revolution, Empire .....)
